James J. (Jim) Sowers is an accomplished attorney, having served many years as inside company counsel, outside counsel and attorney for the United States government.  After graduating magna cum laude in computer science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, receiving an MBA from University of California Berkeley and his  Juris Doctor from Hastings College of the Law, Jim began his legal career with the United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division.  Since leaving the Department of Justice in 1994, Jim has served as inside and outside company counsel to venture-backed startups and other ventures.  Jim is licensed to practice law in California.

Jim is an avid musician, dancer and unicyclist.  When he isn't practicing law, he plays with the Berkeley Revolution Unicycle Basketball team, DJs (often on a motorcycle somewhere in Africa) and teaches Salsa.
